    Guided Tour: CREATEing in Colorado Springs

    Throughout its history, the Pikes Peak region has inspired creativity among the people who have called the area home. From the dramatic silent film performances of Lon Chaney to the contemporary beadwork of Southern Ute artist, Debra Box, guests are invited to explore the complexity, diversity, and uniqueness of the Pikes Peak region. While all guests are welcome, this tour is designed for an adult audience.

    Little Learners: Camping in the Rockies

    Thursday, January 16, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

    Little Learners (ages 3-5) and their favorite grownup are invited to learn and play through games, crafts, songs, and history challenges. In this month's program, we'll work on the Colorado Early Learning & Development Guidelines for developing fine motor skills like hand-eye coordination.

    Lunar New Year: The Year of the Snake

    In June of 2023, Lunar New Year Day was established as an official observed state holiday in Colorado on the first Friday of every February. The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is thrilled to host the Pikes Peak regional celebration of the Lunar New Year with our partners Refugees + Immigrants United and FACSC: Filipino-American Community of Southern Colorado. Guests are invited to celebrate at this family-friendly event with performances, crafts, and information and activity booths presented by local organizations.

    To uplift the cultural richness of this event and our community, attendees are warmly encouraged to wear traditional attire from their own country of origin.

    The CSPM will kick off its 2025 Lecture Series with “The Alternative Archive Gendered Dispossession” presented by Dr. Karen R. Roybal. In this talk, Dr. Royal will discuss the relationship between gender and the law via her research/recovery of depositions, or testimonios, provided by Mexicanas/os in the late nineteenth century during land adjudication proceedings.

    History Detectives: Past & Paint

    Saturday, January 25, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    This fun and interactive family program celebrates the art and stories featured in the museum's new exhibit 50% of the Story: Women Expressing Creativity. Drop-in any time between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., pick up your challenge cards at the front desk, and discover three activity stations throughout the museum at your own pace. Children who complete all three activities can pick out a special prize!
