We are a tiny, but mighty startup with the mission of advancing health equity and social justice through training in the application of intersectionality — a critical theoretical framework with roots in Black feminist activism — to health equity-related research, and practice. Since launching almost 4 years ago, we’ve convened a passionate community of doctoral students, postdocs, academic, and other researchers and practitioners who have participated in and benefited from our trainings. We’re now ready to connect and support them more consistently with the development a new online community in Circle. We’re seeking a part-time (roughly 10-20 hours/week) Community Manager to help build, launch, and maintain this exciting new initiative.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Content Creation:
- Create, curate and manage content such as posts, videos (e.g., extracts from ITI trainings), and articles
- Develop a content plan and calendar to ensure routine creation and posting of engaging content to enhance engagement and facilitate a positive and productive membership experience
- Initiate and proactively oversee content creation
- Relationship Building: Proactively develop content and activities to foster a sense of belonging and community
- Membership Management: Respond to members’ inquiries and feedback, and provide excellent customer support (e.g., onboarding, subscription cancellations, troubleshoot payment issues)
- Moderate Discussions and Content: Develop and enforce guidelines to maintain a safe, respectful, and constructive environment.
- Monitor metrics: Analyze data to assess key performance indicators (KPIs)
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 years’ experience with online (virtual) community management
- Knowledge of intersectionality through formal or independent study, or participation in ITI trainings
- Ability to develop creative, engaging and original content
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Friendly and outgoing personality, and ability to respectfully and effectively resolve conflict
- Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), Circle, and web metrics
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills
NICE TO HAVE
- Prior experience with Circle or similar online community platforms
- Work in ET time zone
- Ability to start right away
COLLABORATORS & REPORT
The Community Manager will work closely with ITI’s Founder and President, Communications Assistant and Client Relations Manager. The Community Manager will report directly to ITI’s Founder and President.
HOURS
This is a part-time position. We anticipate that the startup phase will be the most intensive and command 20 hours per week. After the community is up and running, we anticipate that hours could range from 10-20 hours per week depending on community engagement and activities.
COMPENSATION
Range: $20-$25/hour depending on experience and skillset. Independent contractor (W-9) position.
