Dear Ones,
I have a framed pencil drawing of the motorcycle jacket I wore when I left the east coast for points west. An artist friend sketched it and presented it to me years ago when we had young children. I found a proud spot for it in my house and glanced at it as I was tripping over toys or hustling kids out the door. Not long after, it took up residency in the garage, where it spent years in a box. Now it leans against the wall of my writing room, and if I look at it too long, I swear it is an oracle turning me toward what is next. I would be lying if I didn’t say I can’t hold its gaze most days.
All outer journeys begin as inner ones. Some percolate for years, some are decided in a flash of inspiration or devastation. My motorcycle trip was a combination of both, and no doubt you have had similar journeys. By the time someone calls me about taking singing class, they’ve already been navigating the tension of wanting their voice more than being imprisoned by whatever is holding it back. The journey becomes singing ourselves into more of who we are and more of who we want to be— and expressing that as fully as we can.
I bow to all who are on the journey of finding and claiming their voice. I love that we get to make this journey together, practicing being seen, heard, held and celebrated along the way. As ever, I promise to meet you at the crossroads of vulnerability and risk and hold the biggest possible space for you, as you are, as you are becoming.

This class session is 12 weeks. Passport format holds, meaning there will be opportunities to make up missed classes.
