More Than Just a Number-- Celebrating our Volunteers
April is one of our favorite months of the year! We participate in National Volunteer Week (April 20-26) and have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the thousands of hours our volunteers dedicate to the museum - that's 3,573 hours in 2024 to be exact! And that's 99 volunteers working in over 10 different roles.
Join us in welcoming Aaron Watkins as the new Museum Customer Specialist to the CSPM! Aaron will be working alongside Casey Kaza to ensure our visitors have a welcoming and safe experience.
The CSPM staff was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Harry Gautsche on March 30, 2025. Harry was a loyal and passionate volunteer for the CSPM for many decades. He, along with his late wife, Marcia, were always among the first to raise their hands and ask how they could help the museum.
On Tuesday, April 15, the CSPM was honored to host the swearing-in ceremony of the new and returning At-Large Colorado Springs City Council members on the museum grounds.
Congratulations to returning and new At-Large City Council members: Tom Bailey, Dave Donelson, Kimberly Gold, Nancy Henjum, Roland Rainey Jr., and Brandy Williams.
Give the Gift of History
Every year, the CSPM hosts the Gift of History—our annual fundraiser—to support the museum's mission to build a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak region by preserving and sharing our cultural history. We are raising $100,000 by May 12 to engage the public with local history and foster meaningful connections with one another.
Pikes Peak Heritage Series and El Pomar Foundation have been a longstanding partner of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum to offer opportunities for the public to explore the history of the Pikes Peak region. This year, the CSPM, Palmer Land Conservancy and Pikes Peak Heritage Series welcomed 80 attendees for Screening & Conversation - MIRASOL, Looking at the Sun on Saturday, April 12. We are grateful to the Pikes Peak Heritage Series, a program of El Pomar Foundation, for their generous support!
Calling all Food Trucks! The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is accepting food truck applications for the upcoming 2025 Food Truck Tuesday season. The season will kick off Tuesday, June 3rd, and run through Tuesday, August 19th. Applications are due Friday, May 2.
