Event Description
From Dave Rickert: We are doing a free concert tonight at Armstrong Hall – CC – featuring
the music of Vieux Farka Touré as part of PPLD’s World Music Series 2009. Touré’s music is chiefly informed by the desert blues of Mali (including that of his father, the late and legendary Ali Farka Touré), but includes elements of several other genres, including funk and Afro-pop. He has emerged from the large shadow of his father’s legacy with his own expressive voice and talent on the guitar.
