Central City Opera and the University of Colorado at Boulder's Department of Opera Studies partner each year to offer performance opportunities to promising young artists through a regional touring program. The 2009 tour will bring community and student programs to cities and towns along the Front Range and eastern Colorado performed by seven artists; three members of Central City Opera's young artist program (the Bonfils-Stanton Artist Training Program), three CU Opera Theatre singers and one member of CU's Collaborative Piano program. These artists will perform and give vocal master classes for middle and high school students, and will perform community concerts featuring something for everyone with music from Don Giovanni, Madame Butterfly, Orpheus in the Underworld, Ned Rorem's new opera, Our Townand other opera favorites, plus a detour into the rock world with Rent and Bohemian Rhapsody. Concert will also include performances by Colorado Springs Conservatory Colorado Springs Conservatory faculty, students and alumni.
