EARLY NOTICE OF KWANZAA PLANNING MEETING ON 11/1/09

Hotep (Peace),

The Colorado Springs Citywide Kwanzaa was started 20 years ago by two local members of Alpha Phi Alpha (Tyrone Charles and Tony Young) as a way of increasing cultural competence about African American history and culture, instilling cultural pride in our youth, and reminding our community of the rich heritage, traditional values, and strengths of our people.

We''ve received much support from many who have expressed a desire to serve on the committee this year's 20th Colorado Springs Citywide Kwanzaa and hope that you can assist (and/or encourage others to assist) in making this year's celebration a great success. This is also a wonderful opportunity for our youth to gain experience in planning and participating in a community event, so input by your middle school and high school students is important.

A planning meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, November 1st from 3 to 4 pm at my office located in Suite A109B at the Satellite Hotel; 411 Lakewood Circle (Southwest corner of Academy & Airport). It's been our tradition to start and end the meeting on time. We do hope that you're able to participate and/or encourage others to participate.
