"This is a new movement. Our goal is to change the way the Democratic Party (leaders) responds to African Americans and issues. The first step will be at the press conference
on April 10th. (Standing Up Against Injustice in Colorado)
Colorado African Americans for Justice will hold a press conference at Palmer High school located at 301 N. Nevada from 8:00 am to 8:30 am on April 10th. In addition, a protest rally will be held. This event will coincide
with the El Paso County Democratic Party Assembly.
The purpose of the press conference is four-fold:
To announce a New Movement to demand accountability from Democratic elected officials and appointed officials based on the way the Democratic party addresses African American issues and to demand action by the National Democratic Party.
To expose Colorado elected officials and demand
accountability: Colorado elected officials have failed to address African American issues. Testimonies will be given by African Americans on issues and how white leaders have failed African Americans.
To address discrimination: Too many African Americans have been victims of discrimination and racism in the El Paso County Democratic Party and in Colorado.
To publicize that Colorado African Americans have led the fight for justice. We are calling on African Americans to Stand Up and be Counted on ending second class citizenship for Black people in Colorado."
