Chasing Santa 5K & Cycling Santa Toy Drive Returns for Its 15th Year of Holiday Cheer

Colorado Springs, CO – December 6, 2025 — The holiday spirit will be in full swing as hundreds of Santas take to the streets for the 15th Annual Chasing Santa 5K and Cycling Santa Toy Drive. This popular event is an annual Colorado Springs tradition that celebrates community, fitness, and giving. The event kicks off at 5725 Mark Dabling Blvd. and will benefit Give It Forward, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families in need across the Pikes Peak r

The Chasing Santa 5k is quite a sight to see. Last year the streets were filled with a sea of red as individuals had the opportunity to run a 5K and toddlers had the chance to chase Santa. Those who preferred to dash a little faster traded their shoes for a bike and joined the Cycling Santa Ride, with three distances available: 6, 10, and 21 miles. Those opting to participate in the 21-mile ride took advantage of a special stop at the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort where they enjoyed coffee and waffles.

FOX21 News anchor Abbie Burke was the emcee at the lively festivities, engaging the crowd with her energetic presence while the anticipation of the competition was amped to the hilt by DJ Shield, also known as James Flowers. As the excitement built, participants and spectators alike were swept up in the holiday spirit, setting the perfect tone for the After Party Celebration that awaited everyone at the finish line. From hot chocolate and festive treats to shopping and music, the celebration promised plenty of warmth and joy, ensuring a memorable day for all in attendance.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year—and there’s no better way to kickstart your holiday season,” said event organizer Mike Pharis. “Every participant helps keep Christmas a time of joy for families right here in our community.”

After Party Celebration

The celebration doesn’t stop at the finish line! As runners and cyclists return, the holiday magic kicks into full swing with our Chasing Santa After Party — packed with hot chocolate, food, festive treats, shopping, giveaways, and music from DJ Shield.

You don’t even have to be in the race to join in the fun! Enjoy mascots and Star Wars Stormtroopers roaming the crowd, explore the Vendor Takeover Holiday Expo, and soak up the spirit of the season.

There’s something for everyone!

You can wrap up your race day with laughter, warmth, and holiday cheer — and don’t forget to snap a photo with Santa when he arrives!

Each registration includes a complete Santa suit—pants, jacket, belt, hat, and beard. Toddlers ages 4 and under participate for free with an adult registration and receive their own Santa suit.

Each year, participants collect and donate hundreds of toys for children across Colorado Springs.
