International Falsely Accused Day: CPS & Family Court Town Hall
On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, parents from across El Paso County will gather at Avenue 19, Downtown Colorado Springs, from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM to share their personal stories of being falsely accused and wrongfully separated from their children by Child Protective Services and related agencies.
The event is being held in recognition of International Falsely Accused Day, an international movement to highlight the frequency and impact of false allegations of domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, coercive control, campus sexual abuse, and rape.
False allegations are common in CPS and family court. While often made by parents or their proxies in an effort to weaponize the system and their children against the other parent, many parents have documented cases where CPS case managers, GALs, and other contractors or professionals falsify and fabricate records to prolong a case, retaliate against a parent, or boost their revenue or income.
False allegations are an immense societal problem that causes severe harm to children and families. Accountability is nonexistent, lives are ruined, and yet CPS and family courts do nothing to address or solve the issue. Colorado could potentially save $300-$500 million annually if it assessed for false allegations and held people accountable for making them.
Organized by Colorado Resilience Executive Director Carl Roberts and local Colorado Springs advocate Danyelle Campos, who faced the wrongful removal of her newborn child and two grade school children due to false allegations.
State Representatives Scott Bottoms, Jarvis Caldwell, and Regina English have confirmed they will attend to listen and participate in a Policymaker Panel. Senator Marc Snyder did not reply. County Commissioners Williams and Geitner declined. Other elected officials have been invited.
The agenda includes a discussion on the systemic issues and fundamental failures of CPS, hearing from impacted families, proposed legislative and policy solutions, and a Policymaker Panel where elected officials can comment on what they heard, their perspective, and what they intend to do going forward.
“What happened to me can happen to anyone. Parents are losing their children to a broken system without evidence, due process, or accountability. It’s time to expose this and fight back,” said Campos.
