Dear Media Outlet Team,
The MLK Legacy Committee, in partnership with the Pikes Peak Diversity Council, NAACP Colorado Springs, and UCCS, respectfully requests your support in airing Public Service Announcements for our 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on January 19, 2026. There are multiple opportunities for engagement.
This year’s theme, “Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way,” aligns powerfully with an historic moment for our state and nation:
Colorado’s 150th Anniversary of Statehood, and
The United States’ 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,
together commemorated as the Sesquisemiquincentennial.
Our keynote speaker is Yolanda Renee King, the only granddaughter of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King. She will headline the MLK Prayer Breakfast at The Antlers and speak to youth at UCCS on conflict resolution, leadership, and civic unity. Events planned include: a prayer breakfast, march and educational panel are all happening on Monday, January 19th.
As Colorado reflects, on 150 years of shared history—and the nation on 250 years of democratic ideals—Dr. King’s message of nonviolence, service, and community leadership carries renewed urgency and hope.
Your station’s support through PSA placement would significantly expand community awareness and participation.
We can provide:
✔ 15/30/60-second PSA scripts
✔ Social-ready graphics
✔ Official press materials
✔ Interview availability with event leadership
We would be honored to partner with you in sharing this message of unity and reflection during such a meaningful anniversary year.
Warm regards from the MLK Legacy Committee – PR Team Chairperson Shirley Martinez is copied on this email request
