I have been a veterans advocate for 17.5 years. I started out with El Paso County Veteran Services in January of 1992. Through the mentorship of Jim Tackett, County Veteran Service Officer, and Ainsley Thomas, State Veteran Service Officer, I developed a deep passion and respect for the job. In those years, I utilized my graphic design background and created several benefit materials that aided not only our office in outreach to veterans, but several non-veteran offices. I LOVE being an advocate to veterans and their dependents. As an advocate, it was my job to ensure that veterans obtain every benefit to which they are entitled. It has been my privilege to have served those who have served our country and have been willing to lay down their life to maintain the idea of Freedom. After my short stint at the Colorado Division of Veteran Affairs, I am hoping that I can continue my passion in advocating for veterans through my graphic design abilities and knowledge of veterans benefits. I am hoping to unite both of these passions into one and ask that if you have any ideas on how I can achieve that, I am more than willing to listen. I am dedicating this page through BlackBeat Productions to portray some of the veteran benefits materials I have created over the years. I thank Juanita Martin, who also happens to be a veteran, for introducing me to this wonderful medium.
